Ali Sperry
Ali Sperry is approaching her 20 year anniversary of becoming a yoga instructor and feels like it's the gift that keeps on giving. She began her journey with yoga in her youth, as she practiced yoga and meditation daily at the elementary school she attended in Fairfield, Iowa, that was based on the principles of Transcendental Meditation. Her own yoga practice took on more significance in her life when she was diagnosed with severe scoliosis in her middle school years and had to wear a back brace. Yoga provided her great relief from back discomfort, as well as helping her to feel strong and embodied at this challenging time. Having taught yoga in her hometown of Fairfield, as well as New York and Chicago, Ali moved to Nashville in 2009 to pursue her love of music. Songwriting and performing have been constants in Ali's life since a young age, and it was an opportunity to join an all-female country band that called Ali to make a home in Nashville. In 2012, Ali released her first full-length solo album, Storybook, and has since released two more full-length records and two EPs. In addition to writing songs for herself, she is a frequent co-writer amongst local songwriters and has had songs that she penned appear on several local artist's albums. Since that first record came out, she has toured both solo and with a band, and always aims to seek the balance between the adventure of touring and the groundedness of being at home. She lives with her husband Jamie, who is also a musician (drummer and producer), her baby daughter Hennie, and lovable pup Lonnie.
