> New to Yoga

> Do I need to be really flexible to do yoga?

You do not need any baseline level of flexibility—or fitness, for that matter— to do yoga. Any kind of body at any level of athleticism can practice yoga. All are welcome.

> What classes are best for beginners?

While most of our classes are meant for all levels of experience, we recommend easing into your practice with non-heated Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Restorative, and Yin classes. For more information, head over to our Class Types page.

> What should I wear?

You don't need fancy, expensive, or speciality clothing to practice yoga (which is why we don't sell any). We suggest you opt for something comfortable that allows you to move and breathe with ease. Yoga is typically practiced barefoot and shoes are not permitted in the practice room and should be left in a locker or cubby.

> What should I bring?

Yoga essentials include: a water bottle for hydration, towel(s) for sweat, and a yoga mat on which you’ll do your practice. You can bring your own or we also rent mats and towels and sell bottled water (more on that below).

> How should I prepare for class?

It’s best not to do yoga on a full stomach. We recommend eating at least 1-2 hours before class. Arrive well hydrated (extra important for heated classes!) Before class begins, introduce yourself to the instructor. Inform the instructor whether you have any injuries or limitations. Our teachers will be happy to guide you through any modifications or reservations you may have.

> What methods of payment do you accept?

We are cash-free. Debit and credit cards only.

> How do I get started?

If you're a local resident, take advantage our Introductory Offer. This will allow you to explore a variety of classes and instructors. Plan to arrive to your first class 10-15 minutes early so you have plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the studio and settle into class.

> Do you have parking?

There is free parking in marked spaces behind the 1077 building. Clients can park in spaces marked "Commercial" and "Guest," including the marked spaces in the alley. Please do not park in the spaces marked "Resident." Additionally, there is a gravel lot across the street from our front entrance. This lot is free. And lastly, there is free on-street parking on Zophi St. and Casper Ave. Click to view our Parking Map.

> Are there rental mats and towels?

Yes. There are mats and towels for rent at the front desk. Mats are included in the Introductory Offer. Mats & Towels are included with Drop-Ins.

> Do you sell water?

Yes, we do sell water, but in an effort to reduce our waste, we encourage students to bring a reusable water bottle and use our filling station. We also sell reusable water bottles for $5 in case you’re in need of one.

> Where do I keep my things?

Our studio has shoe cubbies as well as lockers for your use during class. Lockers are locked using your own code and no padlocks are required.

> Do you have showers?

Our studio has one unisex, single-stall shower. Our shower is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Please keep showers to a quick rinse in consideration of others and the environment.

> How hot are your heated classes?

Our studio uses infared heat panels set between 95F - 100F. Infrared is the direct transfer of heat from the heater to the object (you and the room around you) without heating the air in between. This allows for easy breathing since the air isn't muggy and no irritating particles are being blown around the room. Infared is the same heat we feel from an environment warmed by the sun, and the wavelength most efficiently absorbed by the body. It is also more efficient and environmentaly friendly!

> If I am pregnant, are there special safety guidelines for prenatal yoga? Are there any other classes safe to take outside of prenatal yoga?

To protect your health and your baby's health during prenatal yoga, follow basic safety guidelines:

  • Talk to your health care provider. Before you begin a yoga program, make sure you have your health care provider's OK. You might not be able to do prenatal yoga if you are at increased risk of preterm labor or have certain medical conditions, such as heart disease or back problems.

  • Inform your yoga instructor that you are pregnant so they can offer safe alternatives and adjustments where needed.

  • Stay cool and hydrated. Avoid heated classes unless you receive your health care provider's OK.

  • Avoid certain postures. When doing poses, bend from your hips — not your back — to maintain normal spine curvature. Avoid lying on your belly, doing deep forward or backward bends, or doing twisting poses that put pressure on your abdomen. You can modify twisting poses so that you only move your upper back, shoulders and rib cage. As your pregnancy progresses, use props during postures to accommodate changes in your center of gravity. If you wonder whether a pose is safe, ask your instructor for guidance.

  • Pay attention to your body and how you feel. Start slow and avoid positions that are beyond your level of experience or comfort. Stretch only as far as you would have before pregnancy. If you experience any pain during prenatal yoga, stop and contact your healthcare provider.

> Do Hola’s teachers give hands-on assists?

Many of our teachers do use physical touch to assist students in poses. Physical assists and adjustments can be an important teaching tool, they can feel great, and they can enhance many poses. But we get it, not everyone wants to be touched when they come to yoga class; there could be injuries, trauma, or simply personal reservations about being touched. And you don’t need a reason to say no. Hola requires its teachers to have consent before any physical assists take place. Consent chips will be available at our reception desk before every class. Placing one on your mat is one way to silently indicate that you would prefer not to receive any adjustments that day. You are also encouraged to speak to your teacher if you prefer. The choice is yours.

> How do I schedule a private class or a private group class? What are your rates?

We offer both individual, small group and large group private sessions. We do our best to coordinate with your choice of instructor and tailor the class per your request. Please visit our private events page for details.

> Am I able to rent out Hola Yoga?

Thank you so much for your interest in our space! At this time, we are not able to rent out our space to other buisnesses.

> Studio Etiquette and Policies

> Do you have a cell phone policy?

The practice room is a sacred space and cell phones are not permitted inside the practice room. Phones should be silenced and left with your personal belongings in a locker. If you are on-call, please leave your phone with our front desk and they can assist in informing you of any incoming calls.

> Do I need to sign up for class?

We highly encourage all students to sign up for class ahead of time via our website or the MINDBODY app, especially for more popular class times. This will ensure you have a spot reserved. If space allows, walk-ins are always welcome!

> What is your cancellation policy?

Classes must be cancelled at least 2 hours prior to the start of the class time. A $5 late cancel fee or a $10 no-show fee will apply. If you pre-register for a workshop or event, and you cancel 48 hours prior to the start time, you will receive account credit to your Hola Yoga account. If you cancel within 48 hours of the start time, you will not receive a refund or credit. While we appreciate you letting us know if your plans change, fees do not apply to free or donation based classes.

> What happens if I arrive late to class?

We understand that sometimes you’re going to be late despite your best efforts. However, in order to maintain a tranquil classroom space, late arrivals will not be allowed entry 5 minutes after a class begins. For classes that are full, we only hold reservations until the start time of class. If you are not present at the start of the class and there is a waitlist, your spot will be given to another student.

> How do I purchase a class?

Drop-in classes, class packs, and memberships can be purchased on our website, in studio, or via the MINDBODY app. Please note, auto-renew memberships are not sellable through the MINDBODY app and must be purchased through our site or in-person.

> Do you offer discounts?

Yes, we give students, military, school teachers, and first responders 10% off any regularly priced class packs and memberships, excepting Unlimited Annual Membership.

> Do you have a lost and found?

Hola Yoga is not responsible for lost or stolen items. However, we will make every effort to hold found items for up to two weeks. When valuable items like credit cards, keys, or jewelry are found, they are held behind the desk. Other items, such as mats and water bottles, will be donated after the two weeks if they are not claimed.

> Do I have to stay through Savasana?

Every class will end with Savasana and we kindly ask that you stay for this part of the practice. Quieting the mind is the essence of yoga and learning to be still in a busy world is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. We get that it may be tempting to skip the last few minutes of class to beat the rush, but your asana practice is incomplete without a proper Savasana. If you must leave early, please inform your instructor and head out before Savasana begins to minimize disruption for others.

> How do I cancel my membership?

Auto-Renew Memberships can be cancelled after the minimum three-month commitment. You may cancel at any time for any reason by filling out this form at least 7 days prior to your next scheduled billing date.

> Is there a minimum age requirement?

Yes, there is. Sixteen. Students under 18 will need to get a parent to sign a consent form to be able to practice.
