Yoga therapy is for anyone looking to cultivate greater well-being—physically, mentally, or emotionally. It’s a personalized approach that adapts to your unique needs, whether you’re seeking relief, resilience, or a deeper connection to yourself.
We all have the innate ability to heal ourselves and restore harmony in our energetic, emotional, and physical bodies. Yoga therapists do not treat, diagnose, heal or cure. We do not take the place of other healthcare professionals. Instead, yoga therapy can compliment your wellness goals, oftentimes alongside your other care practitioners.
No yoga experience is required.

While both yoga teachers and yoga therapists share a deep understanding of yoga and its benefits, their roles and approaches differ in significant ways.
Yoga Teacher
A yoga teacher guides group or private classes focused on general well-being. They lead students through postures and sometimes breathwork and meditation in a way that enhances flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. Yoga teachers are skilled at creating sequences for a wide range of students, but their work is typically not individualized for specific health concerns or conditions.
Yoga Therapist
A yoga therapist has advanced training (1,000+ hours) in anatomy, physiology, psychology, and therapeutic applications of yoga. Instead of teaching generalized classes, a yoga therapist works one-on-one or in small therapeutic groups, tailoring each session to address specific health concerns such as:
Chronic pain & injuries
Stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression, grief and life transitions
Autoimmune conditions
Neurological disorders
Pregnancy & postpartum
Sleep disturbances
Yoga therapists assess each client’s unique needs and integrate movement, breathwork, meditation, and lifestyle guidance in a way that supports healing and balance. Their work is highly personalized and evidence-based, often complementing medical or mental health treatments.
