Yoga Certifications & Credentials Glossary

Curious what our teachers certifications mean and what they accomplished to acquire them? Learn more below.

RYT 200 - Registered Yoga Teacher (200-Hour): A foundational 200-hour yoga training approved by Yoga Alliance. These teachers are equipped to guide safe, accessible, and well-rounded classes for all levels.

RYT 500 - Registered Yoga Teacher (500-Hour): A deeper, more advanced 500-hour training. These teachers have studied beyond the basics and bring expanded knowledge, nuance, and intention to their classes.

E-RYT 200 -Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher: A teacher that has completed a 200-hour training and taught over 1,000 hours. They bring seasoned wisdom, strong leadership, and experience you can feel in the room.

E-RYT 500 - Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (500-Hour): A highly experienced teacher who has taught over 2,000 hours after completing a 500-hour training. Often mentors, trainers, and community anchors.

YACEP - Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider: These teachers are qualified to teach continuing education courses to other yoga instructors. Their expertise supports not only students, but the next generation of teachers.

C-IAYT- Certified Yoga Therapist: A yoga professional trained extensively in therapeutic applications of yoga. They work with the whole person (mind, body, and breath) to support healing, resilience, and wellbeing.

RCYT- Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher: Specialized training in teaching yoga to children and teens. These teachers create safe, playful, inclusive practices for younger yogis.

RPYT -Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher: Trained to safely guide pregnant students with supportive movement, breath, and mindfulness throughout every stage of pregnancy.

LMT- Licensed Massage Therapist: Professionals trained in hands-on therapeutic techniques to support mobility, relaxation, recovery, and whole-body balance.

DPT - Doctor of Physical Therapy: Medical professionals who specialize in restoring movement and supporting injury recovery. They bring science-backed insight into functional movement.

OT -Occupational Therapist: Professionals who help individuals build or rebuild everyday skills through supportive movement and therapeutic tools.

LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: Mental health professionals with a Master's in Social Work (MSW) who is licensed to diagnose and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral issues through psychotherapy and counseling
